Finding joy!

I took a short breather from doing the weekly blog because life is made for living, and for the past two weeks I did just that! One week I was away, and the other week I ended up on the beach at 11am on a Wednesday! As much as I LOVE being in my house, “breaking biche” like that was a welcomed change of scenery! Even when the guys at the car park jostling us for chairs or whatever else tried to derail the vibe, a VERY effective, well timed cut eye was enough to make the message clear that we had it covered!
Anyway! This blog is one about joy. Every day you look on the news or on social media and it’s….heavy. So much division, prices are skyrocketing while people are losing jobs, people are losing their lives, world disasters….you know the drill. It’s too much. Let’s think about happy.
Some weeks ago when Michael came out, I saw lots of pictures of people going to the cinema in their Michael-themed clothes and thought “can’t be ME!!!!” I thought it was so cringy! But the cinema night rolled around and I had a black jacket I’d gotten for Christmas that I’d never worn. I stood there contemplating then said to myself: “will this make me feel happy?” “YES!” Done deal. I wore the jacket and felt like a bite up shilling!
Recently I was having a rough day and wondering if to do the day’s workout or not. My coach said to me “what will improve your day?” The answer became instantly clear.
It’s funny that when we’re in a tough situation, sometimes all it takes is the right question to give you all the clarity. I’ve taken to asking myself variations of those questions whenever I’m feeling a little stressed or anxious about something, and it’s been helping! Even when there are unavoidable tough moments, even thinking about my own happiness as an end goal makes a positive difference.
I’d encourage you keep your own happiness and wellbeing at the forefront of your mind so that in the midst of the day’s tribulations, you can have something positive to hold on to.
